Anthony is a Master of Mathematics in Computer Science (Thesis) student from the University of Waterloo, volunteering with the Centre for Community Based Research (CCBR). His background is in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research; in particular social computing technologies, focusing on the design of technologies for groups, communities, and networks. In his undergrad, he was heavily involved in the creation of The Newcomer App – a research project for a multi-lingual mobile app for newcomers to the Kitchener-Waterloo region to navigate health and social service resources – conducting interviews, focus groups, co-creation sessions, prototype evaluations, and the design and development of the application itself. His current thesis research is in the design and creation of a platform for community and multidisciplinary artists to deliberate and make decisions in a more participatory manner. Anthony is passionate about all things “co-“: co-design, co-mmunity engagement, co-llaborative systems and co-mputational creativity.
Outside of research, Anthony spends time with his friends and partner, drinks too much iced coffee, goes to concerts in Toronto, and does “just ok” at trivia nights with his lab. At the start of the summer, he did a 12-city, 16-day rail-based trip with his best friends in Switzerland and Italy!
