The Centre for Community Based Research (CCBR) is an independent, non-profit organization located on the University of Waterloo campus. We have 40 years of experience in community-based research and evaluation. Our mission is to build communities that are responsive and supportive, especially for people with limited access to power and opportunity.
We are seeking a Senior Researcher who will lead community-based research projects which are community-driven, participatory, and action-oriented. The Senior Researcher will have solid research credentials in the academic, government, and NGO sectors and a demonstrated commitment to community-based research, including knowledge mobilization and community facilitation. Content expertise in equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), newcomer settlement, e-learning, and program evaluation are considered assets.
This is a full-time permanent position with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2023. Proximity to Waterloo will be considered an asset, as in-person meetings are periodically required (about once a month). The starting salary range is $70,000-$85,000 with a benefit package available. CCBR is a flexible, caring, and collaborative work environment, with options to work from home and/or in-office (co-shared with other non-profits/academics).
Requirements
• PhD or Master’s degree in a relevant field
• University level training in research methods
• Conceptual background in theories of equity, anti-oppression, and/or decolonization
• Experienced in qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation
• Experience initiating and brokering partnerships within social and health sectors
• Writing (including grant/proposal writing) and publishing record
• Experienced consultant, negotiating and managing contracts with partners
• Able to lead and manage multiple research teams, each of diverse members (including community members and students), to successful project completion
