Maneesa Veeravel (they/he/she) is a creative storyteller with over a decade of experience in community-based arts creation, facilitation and anti-oppressive work. They hold a bachelor's degree in Communications, Art and Technology with a minor in Sociology and a Social Justice Certificate from Simon Fraser University. Maneesa is a mad, queer, Tamil, gender fluid, chronically ill survivor settled on the stolen, traditional and ancestral lands of the Wendake-Nionwentsïo, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Haudenosaunee, and Anishinabewaki territories. They are an interdisciplinary artist and educator, interested in expanding their skills in arts-based research with CCBR. Maneesa's work reflects intergenerational wits, wounds and wisdoms as it pertains to land, body and the notion of home. The process of using art and pedagogy as forms of healing allows them to access grounding and alignment while protecting their visionary ideals.
