Fitsum Areguy has over 10 years of experience in community work engaging youth, disability communities, and racialized populations. His background as a community worker and youth advocate guides his interest in how race, culture, power, and difference structures our identities and relationships. As an emerging community-based researcher, Fitsum values participatory action approaches, inter/multi-disciplinary collaboration, and creative analytic practices. He uses knowledge exchange/mobilization to communicate data clearly, ethically, and equitably. Before joining CCBR in 2022, Fitsum worked as a project director and managing editor for a literary-arts magazine and independent news outlet in Waterloo Region.
