I admire CCBR’s objective for social change through quantitative and qualitative research methods. To see an organization committed to the success of individuals with limited access and opportunity is refreshing, and I want to be part of this change. As a black woman in Canada, I feel it's my responsibility to get involved where I can to break down systemic barriers and build our cultural competency. I believe knowledge is power, and research is vital to our growth as a Community. With my role at CCBR I hope to become more engaged with the research community, and listen to experiences which I can learn from. Further, I hope to develop my skills in research and writing/editing.
Of all the places I’ve travelled to, I would most like to go back to Ethiopia. Both my parents are Ethiopian, and this past year I had the opportunity to go for the first time to meet my extended family! There’s so much more I’d like to see and so I hope I’ll get the chance to go back soon.
My favourite thing to do when I’m not working is to play Mario party and connect4 with my family during game night.
