Our Instructors

Our instructors are experienced community practitioners with strong academic credentials. They are staff of the Centre for Community Based Research (CCBR) [link], Canada’s leader in conducting and promoting community-based research and evaluation. Established in 1982, the Centre for Community Based Research (CCBR) is a non-profit organization located at Conrad Grebel University College on the University of Waterloo campus.

Collectively we have conducted over 500 projects on a variety of societal issues. Across these projects we have engaged hundreds of non-profit organizations, community groups, networks, governments, and academic partners. We were Canada’s first non-profit organization to be eligible for academics grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and have led numerous academic grants.

In addition to working on research projects, our instructors contribute to academic literature about community-based research (see list of CCBR academic publications [hyperlink]). They also regularly facilitate customized workshops and capacity-building events for community and government audiences.
