Leaders Mobilizing Change

The CURA has facilitated several avenues for groups to come together and discuss mental health in the context of culture. In February, March, and April 2010, one of the CURA demonstration projects, Leaders Mobilizing Change, will bring a one day workshop. The workshop aims to bring together leaders in community mental health, settlement organizations and leaders in cultural linguistic communities.  The purpose of the workshop is to support systems and organizational change by identifying local opportunities and strategies to move culture from the margins to the core of mental health services.

“Outstanding crystallized concepts and they will stay with me as I move forward in changing with the community in my work environment” –Past Workshop Participant

Previous events

Between 2005 and 2009, CURA partners organized several mid-sized events and two large conferences as a way to connect varied stakeholder groups to discuss barriers and solutions across sectors and cultural groups. Many times people and groups met for the first time through the CURA, resulting in improved mutual understanding and some new partnerships.
