Project Overview

“Taking Culture Seriously in Community Mental Health”, is a five-year (2005-2010) Community University Research Alliance (CURA) that brought together over 50 diverse university and community partners in the Toronto and Waterloo regions of Ontario, Canada. Led by the Centre for Community Based Research (CCBR), this research initiative began with a group of 17 partners in 2005, and grew to include over 45 partners from multiple disciplines and community organizations that worked closely until the project’s conclusion in 2010. The program was funded by Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) (as part of its Community University Research Alliance (CURA) program) and the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
