Monica Heide,Board President
Monica began her career working with young adult volunteers in a national program known as Katimavik. Since then, she has held executive level positions in a variety of settings, including, young offender and children's mental health services, child protection and family violence. Monica received her Honours BA in Psychology in 1976 and her Masters of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1990 and holds an Advanced Certificate in Conflict Management and Mediation. She is a registered social worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and a member of the Ontario Association of Family Mediators. Currently, Monica is in private practice specializing in family mediation. Monica also facilitates communication and conflict resolution workshops and is a management consultant for social service agencies. Monica lives in Waterloo with her family, and is an active volunteer with the YMCA Cross Cultural Services and Community Justice Services. She is also a member of the United Way's Priority Impact Team for Newcomers and Neighborhoods. Monica has travelled internationally and her interests are hiking and ESL tutoring in Canada and overseas.
