Kathy joined the Centre in 2004 as a placement student and subsequently accepted a full time position as Centre Researcher in September, 2005. As a researcher she has been involved in over 20 evaluations, needs assessments and other applied research projects.

Research and Action Interests

Much of Kathy's research and action has been focused on immigrant issues and working with disadvantaged persons and groups.

Team Lead: Evaluation of the Waterloo Region Immigrant Employment Network

  • This 3-year systems change evaluation examines the activities and outcomes of the Waterloo Region Immigrant Employment Network (WRIEN) in order to determine the extent to which a collaborative, multi-stakeholder and region wide process strengthened immigrant lives, the local economy and the community-at-large

Team Member: Developing a Service Pathway for Children with Autism for Waterloo Region and Guelph-Wellington County

  • This project will develop a framework for a comprehensive service pathway for Autism Spectrum Disorder that is fully integrated and able to address the full range of healthcare, developmental, educational and rehabilitative needs of children with Autism in the Waterloo Region and Guelph-Wellington County.

Other Interests

Currently Kathy is working on her PhD in Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University. The limited free time she has she enjoys spending with her family, entertaining with friends and gardening. Kathy lives in Waterloo with her husband and the most gorgeous baby ever (Nathan).
