Creating a better future for communities through research

Program Evaluation as a Management Tool

Nov 21, 2007

The focus of this conference was to promote an understanding of the interrelationship between community, school and family in supporting healthy child and youth development

Andrew's session focused on the relationship between knowledge development and management. For those involved with services for children and youth, the relationship between research and practice is increasingly important and complex.

Practitioners are expected to be able to show how research evidence informs their practice, and they are also expected to contribute to the creation of research knowledge in various ways. In this session, we explored ways to make strategic decisions about the role of research in your practice, and to manage the expectations of funders and partners about your participation in research. We focused in particular on practical strategies that you can use to build elements of program evaluation into your management of programs.
