CUExpo 2011 Kick-off Luncheon

Oct 20, 2009

The Centre for Community Based Research in partnership with various institutions will hold the conference Caption ContentCommunity-University Partnerships:Bringing Global Perspectives to Local Action Conference, on May 11-15, 2011 in Kitchener / Waterloo, Ontario.  CUExpo 2011 is a Canadian-led international conference designed to showcase the exemplars in Community-University partnerships worldwide, and to introduce creative ways of strengthening our local and global communities.

The conference planning is underway. We have been busy over the summer with finalizing and  producing the conference flyer  (French version)  and the website that will go live in the next few weeks. The flyer summarizes one year of discussion on the conference.  Over the summer, we have met with key community leaders (city mayors, university and community organizations) to raise awareness of this important event.  The response has been very positive.

To build on this momentum, CCBR is holding a CUExpo 2011 kick-off luncheon meeting on October 29th, 2009, with all people interested in being active in planning this conference.  We envision three working groups: Promotion and Resources, Conference Logistics and Content / Programming.  The objective of this meeting is to formalize the membership and mandate of the working groups and discuss the vision of the Conference.
